Jay: What’s in a name?

Saw this weekend that the Social Security Admin. released it’s list of most popular baby names for 2007, and I’ll be honest with you, and I’m sorry if I offend some of you readers, but there is not a lot of creativity in the boys names.  Jacob, Michael, Ethan, Joshua, Daniel, Christopher, Anthony, William, Matthew, and Andrew are the top ten.  Kinda of eh if you ask me.  At least the girls names have some pizazz: Isabella #2, Madison#5, Olivia#7 those aren’t bad names and show a little character.  Here’s the link to the Social Security website, pretty nice way to kill ten minutes at work.  Looked up my name, Jason was the #2 name in 1977(which was strange because there was only one other in my class, and none behind me, oh well) but now it is ranked a paltry 59!!  What happened?  How does a great name drop that far??  I think the strangest thing about the list this year is the abundance of girls names that are based on uplifting sayings like Miracle(#461, and an odd name), Journey(#692), Essence(#930) and the oddest: Nevaeh(#31) which is Heaven backwards(isn’t the opposite of heaven, hell  in theory isn’t that what you are insinuating here???)   Just glad to see Mistake and Oops aren’t on the list, now that would be a tough moniker to live with.
